adidas NMD R1 Night Cargo 2018: A Brief Overview

The adidas NMD R1 Night Cargo was introduced in 2018 as part of the ongoing NMD series. The adidas NMD sneakers for men line, short for nomad, was initially launched in December 2015 and quickly gained popularity for its fusion of advanced sneaker technologies and retro style harking back to 1980's running shoes.

The NMD R1 Night Cargo's upper is dark green with the 3-Stripe logo in Base Green. The heel tab, which adds support to the shoe, is in a similar color and features the adidas Trefoil. These design choices add a subtle and sophisticated touch to the sneaker, allowing the branding to complement the overall aesthetic rather than stand out. This shoe also boats an oversized pull tab with NMD branding in reddish-orange and an orange interior to add a dash of color.

The upper is made from Primeknit material. Primeknit is a textile technology that seamlessly knits together yarns to create a single, precisely engineered piece of fabric. This tech eliminates the need for traditional cut-and-sew methods that often lead to bulky seams and uncomfortable friction points.

The adidas NMD R1 Night Cargo also incorporates Boost cushioning in the midsole. This cushioning compresses and absorbs impact forces as your foot contacts the ground. Subsequently, during the liftoff phase, it swiftly reverts to its original form, releasing stored energy and propelling you forward.

While these shoes borrow technical innovations from performance running shoes, they are not designed for running. They have been developed by adidas as streetwear shoes for casual everyday wear and walking on city streets.
