Motorcycle Wheels, Tires, and Tubes for Kawasaki Voyager XII

The Kawasaki Voyager XII was introduced in the year 1983. The Voyager features a 120 horsepower, inline-six cylinder engine, saddle bags, a trunk, and a fairing, giving it the nickname of a car without doors. After a few thousand miles of routine riding, your Kawasaki may need its rubber disks, tubes, rims, and related parts replaced so that you can enjoy a smooth ride.

How do you choose replacement wheels for the Voyager bike?
  • Select the placement on the motorcycle: Choose parts that fit on the front or back end of the bike system. The rims and rubber discs are designed for specific locations on the vehicle.
  • Choose a rim assembly kit or individual parts: Choose an entire assembly kit including the rims, bearings, and lugs if you need to replace the entire system. There are also individual parts available for replacement.
  • Select a manufacturer: There are many manufacturers of tubes and related accessories for the Kawasaki, including All Balls, Cycle Pro, Dunlop, Metzeler, Michelin, and Shinko. There are also unbranded and custom parts available.
What are the features of tires for the Voyager?
  • Rust and corrosion-resistant rims: The chrome or alloy steel rims of the Kawasaki are designed to resist rust and corrosion. If you ride your bike through roads covered in salt, automotive fluids, or puddles, this protects the rims, bearings, and lugs from rusting or corroding.
  • Nylon belting: The nylon belting increases the strength, provides added heat resistance, and reduces wear and tear of the tread on uneven surfaces.
  • Reinforced side walls: These parts have reinforced side walls for enhanced protection against impacts with sharp objects and run-ins with solid surfaces such as curbs. This helps to prevent the round rubber accessories from shredding.
How do you replace a tube in the Voyager XII?
  1. To replace a flat tube in the Kawasaki bike, begin by opening the valve core and the lock nut for the valve stem. Use a C clamp to break the bead between the rubber and the rim on both sides.
  2. Take the rubber disc off the rim.
  3. Apply lubricant to the bead.
  4. Place rim protectors around the perimeter of the rim.
  5. Insert the tire-iron under the bead in a straight line above the valve stem.
  6. Pry the bead over the rim. Reach between the bead and rim and pull out the tube.
  7. Insert the new tube.
  8. Replace the bead over the rim, keeping the balance mark in line with the valve stem.
  9. Push the bead back into place all the way around the rim.
  10. Slowly inflate the Kawasaki bike's tube to the recommended pressure. You may hear a pop from the bead when the tube has reached the correct pressure.
