Hub Caps for Chrysler

Hubcaps are made of alloy steel or plastic and are designed to fit over the top of the lug nuts that keep the wheel attached to the axle of your vehicle. Each manufacturer of cars and trucks has their own designs for the hubcaps, and Chrysler uses different styles of wheel covers and caps for different models of their vehicles. In addition to the aesthetics of these wheel covers, the hub caps perform key functions that are important to the longevity and durability of your wheels.

What are the benefits of hub caps?
  • Protect against dirt and dust infiltration: Hub caps are designed to fit against the hub of the wheel and protect the fasteners and wheel from dust and dirt intrusion.
  • Keep corrosive chemicals away from fasteners: Hubcaps are also designed to keep corrosive chemicals such as road salt and automotive fluids from getting onto the fasteners and causing them to corrode or rust.
How do you change a hubcap on your car?

Hubcaps may be fastened with lug nuts or screws. If yours is fastened with lug nuts, you will need to use a lug wrench to remove three of the nuts, leaving two across from each other. Remove the washers. Reattach the nuts just enough by hand-tightening. Remove the other two nuts and their washers. You can now release the hub cap. If it is attached by screws, locate the one that should be removed. It usually has a plastic washer around it. Unscrew it and remove the hubcap. You will need the screw or washers in order to fasten the new hubcap onto your wheel.

How do you clean the area behind the hubcaps?

After you have removed the hubcap, you can remove any grease, moisture, dirt, or other residue that has managed to get into the area where the lug nuts are located. To clean the area behind the hubcaps, attach a spray nozzle to a garden hose. If you notice that there is a lot of dirt and grease, use a biodegradable detergent such as dish soap and a sponge to scrub off the residue. Rinse it again with the sprayer of the garden hose. Spray the hubcaps on both sides, using the gentle detergent to remove any stuck-on dirt or debris. Dry the hub cap with a clean microfiber cloth. Use another clean microfiber cloth to pat the hub of the wheel dry before reattaching the hub cap.
