House Your Speakers in Q-Power 10-inch Speaker and Subwoofer Enclosures

With the sound of your car's or truck's engine and the noises of the road interfering with your music, it can sometimes be hard to hear every note of the songs playing from your speakers. Q-Power speaker and subwoofer enclosures can work to improve the quality of your vehicle's audio, giving you a full range of notes to listen to. Many of their products can fit 10-inch devices.

What are some different types of enclosures?

The differences include:

  • Sealed: The seal on these car audio boxes is airtight, meaning that pressure can build within the box at certain times. That pressure helps to move the diaphragm of the driver back and forth quickly. That can lead to precise audio as opposed to loud, muffled notes.
  • Ported: When you have a small opening cut into the box, the air pressure doesn't build as it does in a sealed product. The different pressures on the exterior and interior of the compartment have a chance to equalize. When you house your car speakers in ported enclosures, you can achieve a relatively loud volume with a minimal use of power.
What are these products typically made with?

Many models are made out of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) that is smooth, strong, and easy to work with in terms of construction. MDF is also resistant to expanding and contracting in high heat and humidity. Because you have relatively little control over the heat that can build up in your car such as when it's parked, it can be important to have a product made of sturdy material. Enclosures may also be made out of lower- or higher-density fiberboard.

On the outside of your box, you may have a carpet covering that is a match or close match of the interior of your vehicle. Alternatively, you could have something covered with a plastic. This is usually painted black or gray, similar to what you see in a truck bed liner.

Are there different sizes to consider?

If you have 10-inch devices, find a compartment that can fit that diameter. The depth of the component can vary. You could have a standard-depth or a shallow-mount piece. A shallow-mount box would have a more slim profile, and this might be more suitable if you have a slimmer subwoofer as well as less cargo space in your car to house all your speaker and subwoofer components. You could also have a single-port or a double-port box. The double version would have two drivers, side by side, giving you the opportunity to maximize your watts.
