Motorcycle Lighting Indicators for Honda XR650L

Equipped with a 2.8-gallon fuel tank, the Honda XR650L is a dual-sport motorcycle designed for both on- and off-road use. The XR650L is a part of the Honda XR series and features an air-cooled 644-cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine. In order to make the bike street-legal for riders, the Honda XR650L is fitted with a license plate mount, horn, mirrors, speedometer, and lights.

Why do indicator lights stop working?

If you find that your indicator lights, sometimes called blinkers, have stopped working, there are a number of things that may have gone wrong with your Honda. The first place to start is with the battery. Usually, motorcycle batteries are 12 volts or more with everything turned off. If your battery measures at 10 volts, then it may have a bad cell. Furthermore, if the battery isn't producing enough amps, it may not be powering everything.

If your Honda XR650L dual-sport bike doesn't have a battery or if the battery is OK, the issue may be a blown fuse. Fuses can go bad due to age or because something has come loose due to vibration. The third most common reason for XR650L indicator lights to stop working is faulty wiring in your motorcycle.

Why do the indicator lights stay on but don't blink?

If you check your Honda's indicator lights and find that they stay on but don't blink, you could have a bad turn signal module (TSM), or there could be a voltage issue. In some cases, if the TSM is bad, other lights may malfunction, such as the headlight, taillight, and brake light. Additionally, if there is corrosion around the connector, it can also cause the signal to the lights to become faulty.

Why does one indicator light blink faster than the other?

Called hyper flashing, the left, right, or both blinkers can blink faster than normal. If you have replaced your stock blinkers with LED lights, the bike's relay thinks that the stock blinker bulb has burned out and is sending the message to your bike's dash that it needs replacing.

When installing LED indicator lights on your Honda XR650L, the factory module needs to be replaced with an LED flasher module. Flash module boxes can be square or circular in shape and have three prongs protruding out from one side. These modules work with both incandescent bulbs and LED lights, so even if the front has LED lights and the rear has normal lights, the indicators will blink normally.
