Mercedes-Benz S500 Headlights

First, never touch the light bulb with your hands because the oil from your hands will cause the bulb to overheat and burn out prematurely. To install your new bulb, pull the hood release inside the vehicle to open the hood. Lift the hood and then follow these steps:

1. Look between the engine and the back of the headlamp to locate the headlamp assembly.
2. Push in the plastic tabs to remove the lamp cover from the back of the assembly.
3. Unplug the wired connector from the low beam light bulb.
4. Gently remove the light bulb.
5. Install the new bulb and ensure it is sitting in the recess correctly before reinstalling the wired connector and replacing the cover.

The headlamp will need to be removed from the car, which is done by looking under the hood, finding the lamp assembly, removing the appropriate panels, disconnecting the connectors, and pulling the headlamp toward the engine and out of the car. An inspection of the assembly will reveal metal clips that hold the glass in place. Remove the clips, remove the lens, and replace with the new lens. The assembly can be reinstalled in the vehicle by carefully maneuvering it in front of the engine and using reverse order.
