Condensadores y evaporadores Para Subaru Outback

Condensers and Evaporators for Subaru Outback

The Subaru Outback is a crossover vehicle known for its off-road ability and its roomy, comfortable cabin. As many drivers know, a quality AC system is crucial to vehicle comfort. When a Subarus cooling system malfunctions, the condensers and evaporators may be to blame.

How does heat exchange work in a Subaru SUV?

Condensers and evaporators are the parts in the AC system responsible for heat exchange. This process removes heat and humidity from air before it is distributed to the interior cabin of the Outback model. These two parts have important functions within the AC system:

  • Evaporator: Evaporators are made of aluminum and comprised of internal tubes and fins. Both air and coolant pass through this system of pathways, and the end result is that heat and humidity are removed from the air. The coolant absorbs the heat, and the cool surfaces of the evaporator condense any humidity. Most evaporators are connected to a drain tube, which allows any resulting liquid to drip out of the Subaru Outback. These parts are usually located in the passenger compartment of the Subaru.
  • Condenser: The condenser is similar to the evaporator. Its also a small aluminum part filled with tubes and fins. While the evaporator gets rid of heat, however, the condenser releases it. When the coolant in the evaporator absorbs heat from passing air, this stored heat needs someplace to go. It enters the condenser in a vaporous form. The condenser cools it, and it once again returns to its low-temperature liquid state.
Why do evaporators and condensers malfunction?

These AC parts are not immune to damage. Evaporators and condensers usually start to malfunction due to the following reasons:

  • Leakage: When evaporators start to fail, its usually due to leakage. Leaks sometimes occur because a seam or weld has come apart, allowing coolant to seep out the side of the aluminum housing. Corrosion is also a possibility, which is caused when something outside of the evaporator housing causes damaged. These external irritants are often organic, such as leaves that enter through the exterior air intake. When organic materials corrode the evaporator, it may cause a small leak that can be detected inside the Outback wagon. When AC malfunction coincides with odd odors, its usually an evaporator problem.
  • Blockage: When condensers stop working, its usually caused by blockage. In a Subaru Outback wagon, this blockage could be caused by dust, debris, insects, or leaves. Sometimes this blockage can be removed with water and soap, but when the damage is too extensive, replacement parts are necessary.
How do you choose AC parts for a Subaru Outback?

Before selecting new evaporators and condensers, you should check the owners manual for the Subaru Outback vehicle you drive. Some Outback models may be equipped with multiple evaporators. Once drivers have determined how many parts they need, they can choose from premium OEM parts and aftermarket options. OEM evaporators and condensers are made by Subaru, while aftermarket parts are designed to fit multiple vehicles.
