Jeep Wrangler Complete Engines

When you look under the hood of your Jeep Wrangler, you might just see a jumble of metal, hoses, and tubes and be unsure of how they all come together. Understanding how the engine works is important in maintaining it and keeping your vehicle running well. Sometimes it will be necessary to perform a complete engine replacement in your Jeep, and when you need to, you can get complete engines for your Jeep Wrangler and keep it running.

What is the engine?

Although they function differently, it is also called a motor. The system is put in place to convert gasoline into motion to move your Wrangler. Since the gasoline is burned inside of it, it is called an internal combustion engine. It requires numerous parts that work together to complete the process, which are listed here:

  • Spark plug: These supply the spark that ignites the air/fuel mixture in the process.
  • Intake and exhaust valves: These open to let in air and release exhaust, respectively.
  • Piston: This is a cylinder made of metal that moves up and down. They are surrounded by piston rings that prevent fuel/air mixture, exhaust, and oil leakage.
  • Connecting rod: This connects the piston to the crankshaft (which causes the piston to move in a circular motion while moving up and down).
  • Sump: This surrounds the crankshaft and holds oil.
When should the whole engine be replaced?

The average vehicle is designed to last for about eight years or 150,000 miles but can sustain for much longer. Once there is significant engine damage, it is still worth it and possible to replace the part if the rest of the vehicle is in good condition. Regular wear and tear, excessive overheating, and poor maintenance can cause the level of damage that would require a replacement. When there is irreversible damage or the amount of damage outweighs the cost of a new one, it is time to replace the whole thing. Delaying repair will result in serious destruction, so check your engine when any of the following problems occur:

  • The check engine light appears.
  • It stalls or performs with less power.
  • There is smoke coming from it or the tailpipe.
  • You hear strange noises or notice smells.
How do you clean the engine in a Jeep Wrangler?

Keeping the motor clean and maintained will lengthen its lifespan. Cleaning it is simple and should be done whenever there is excessive dirt coating it for optimal use. The steps are listed here:

  1. Remove any debris or large clumps of dirt before you begin the cleaning.
  2. Run your Jeep for 5 to 10 minutes to warm it up. This will loosen any accumulated grease, oil, and other gunk.
  3. Coat it in a specialized degreaser and leave to soak between three and five minutes, depending on how stuck on the grease is.
  4. Wash off the degreaser with a low pressure water source.
  5. Dry it off to avoid spots. If desired, use an additional protection product.
