Ford began marketing the Focus as a compact vehicle in 1998. The Ford Focus is specified as a third-generation model. With such a long performance history, items such as blower motors require maintenance from time to time.

Does a blown motor relay fuse indicate a serious problem?

The motor relay is like a switch thats turned on when it receives a message to either circulate or to limit power for the fans air flow. If its not functioning properly, it could cause a spike in the current and overwork the system. Thats why the system, or the fuse in this case, will shut down. Its protecting itself from damage. If the relay goes too long without servicing, it could potentially lead to more serious electrical issues, such as melted wires or damage to the relay itself.

Why would the Ford Focus blower motor stop working?

There could be a couple of reasons why the fans blower motor quit working. One consideration is the relay. If its current completely stops because it’s malfunctioning, your A/C or heater blower motor is not going to function. Another situation could be with the resistor. This part resists excess current from the electrical system. If the resistor has gone out, then your motor might have been zapped with too much current, destroying the blower motor.

Are blower motors compatible with all Ford Focus models?

Not exactly. For example, the 2003 Ford Focus was part of the first generation designed from 1998 through 2005. These vehicles require their own parts, including blower motors. Each of the trim package parts within this series, however, should be compatible. In this example, the same motor should fit the 2003 three-door hatchback, sedan, fve-door hatchback, and wagon.

By the same token, the 2012 Ford Focus is a third-generation model, which began in 2011. The same blower motor parts will fit each of the trim package models in this range. That distinction includes the electric models.

Why do the RPMs change when the blower is on?

Some change in your Ford Focus RPMs is normal if youre idling. The idle should be somewhere between 700 RPM and 1,000 RPM. The cars adjusting to its HVAC system so that it doesnt overheat, and it conserves fuel. The direct drive blower motor on the vehicles heat and air system is tied to the motor, and each applications speed is affected by the other.
